Competition Help! Fiat and DC.

Uncategorized

hello!

From my previous post, I blogged about my recent competition entry for DC (which is still ongoing) but now I have another competition I need your help for!

This competition is for 500Patternize for Fiat. The competition required me to create a design for a Fiat 500. Again, to win, I need votes on facebook or their website which will take you to my design.

I need your help for both competitions and it would absolutely make my day if you could all vote and share the photographs! (for DC too!)

Here are the links for both competitions:

Fiat – http://500patternize.co.uk/ – go to vote and type in “Triangular Craze” and just Like the like the design!

DC Shoes – https://www.talenthouse.com/i/459/submission/137614/f969c4d2

Thank you for all your help!

London: Street Art Walking Tour

Uncategorized

When I was down in London for New Designers, I decided that on my last day after New designers finished, I would take a little tour of different parts of London that I missed during my last visit.

Whilst I was down, I was recommended to go on the street art walking tour which takes place every Sunday in central London. This tour included the art of many artists including Banksy and Pure Evil (including a gallery featuring art from the artist and other street artists). This tour was very enjoyable and being a huge fan of street art, I loved getting to experience all of the hidden locations full of amazing art work.

We had walked around the area of Shoreditch which featured a lot of work including Banksy, Invader etc so here is some…of many! photographs from the tour.

New Designers 2014

Design Work, Photography, Sketching/Drawing, Textiles

Hello! I have recently came back from London as I was exhibiting at New Designers 2014. I was only there for a week but it was an exciting…slightly stressful and eventful visit. I learned a lot and would definitely recommend for anyone to visit. The amount of design work shown from Universities and Colleges throughout the UK was incredible!   I was exhibiting at the T40 and T44 stand. DJCAD, University of Dundee. I featured each of my collections – which was a miracle considering it was a little space! However, even though it was small, I feel it showed my design work well due to it’s location in the main exhibition space!  Here is a preview of my show!

Lots of pattern! My aim as a designer is to create beautiful surface pattern design inspired by the world around us. For this particular set of collections, they have been inspired by Glasgow’s Shipyards and the powerful structures which frame the city of Glasgow. Glasgow is my hometown so it was great for me to do more research into the city’s history in order to create my design work.  As part of my aim for these collections, highlighting Glasgow’s Shipbuilding heritage was an important factor for creating my designs as it encouraged me to design for a public commercial spaces so that I may re-introduce Glasgow’s Industrial heritage.

Digitally Industrial

Design Work, final year, Photography, Textiles

My final year project was inspired by Glasgow’s Shipyards as they are a huge part of why Glasgow is the city it is today and also, played a huge part in the worlds trading industry. From previous posts, see my photography taken as part of my research stage as it shows my main inspirations and Glasgow’s memorable landmarks.

For my final year project, I took a modern twist on Glasgow’s historical background as well as keep a sense of nostalgia through certain areas of my designs but re-introducing elements of Glasgow’s shipyards through my design work. For example, I have featured blueprint elements combined with photographic print of the Finnieston Crane. I have 3 collections: paper both hand draw and printed designs and digitally printed wallpapers 3m at length, fabric collection including two 3m length wall hangings and finally, a wooden tile collection to keep the structural element which is shown throughout my entire project.

Here is a selection from the Glasgow Shipyards collection!
